Step inside, traveller ... the winter is coming.

I have uploaded the online War Law charts and I have also corrected another batch of typos in the .pdf version ...

November 30th 2000
Greetings, adventurer.

I am still writing up the charts for the online version of War Law, but I have spotted a lot of minor (and some major) errors in the War Law documents. I have corrected them in both the online and the .pdf version.

November 28th 2000
Welcome traveller.

I have finally finished writing up the War Law conversion and I have added it to the Arcane Law Section. Currently the attack and some other tables are omitted from the online version, because I wanted to get it online as quickly as possible. However, they can be found in the .pdf version.

November 23rd 2000
Greetings and well met.

You can now reach this site directly through www.lamaar.de

The current campaign needs have stalled all development on the individual realm pages. Instead I'm currently working on a conversion of a simplified version of the Rolemaster War Law to 3E. I have to playtest the material during the weekend session, and if the material seems to work alright, I will post the rules either during the weekend or the first days of the next week.

November 22nd 2000
Greetings, traveller.

The early hours of this day saw the addition of the Glossary of Lamaarian Names to the Miscellanea Section. In this glossary you can find short explanations to all terms concerning Lamaar; from the Accord of Mereda to Ysgigh.

The later hours of this day saw the correction of the Glossary ...

Welcome and well met.

Lakan the scribe has collected four new scrolls in the Scriptorium. One of them is a copy of Thron Nunthos work on the Races of Lamaar, the second is a copy of his own work on the History of the Western Realms. The two other scrolls are for the linguistically inclined student; they provide an overview over the languages spoken in the Lhân and a short look into an ancient classic, the book of Ebon.

November 19th 2000
Greetings, traveller. Please step inside.

Thron Nunthos has finished his overview over the Human people of Lhân. It can be read, together with his introductory chapter and his discourse about the Albish people in the World Law Section.

November 17th 2000
Welcome traveller,

Thron Nunthos, foremost scholar in the field of the people of Lhân has donated his introduction and the chapter on the Alb to a newfound area in the World Law Section of the library.

Lakan, the scribe has collected the most imporant events that happened in Cambria since the martyrium of Messiah, our lord. The scroll is available in the library under the World Law section.

Brother Abren has found yet another short tractatio on human anatomy and gruesome wound effects, titled Using Rolemaster Criticals. It is displayed for your viewing pleasure in the Scriptorium.

November 14th 2000
Welcome traveller and step inside.

Brother Abren has discovered two misplaced scrolls and a parchment containing lore about the Jharkorian Swordslinger and the Dwarven Slayer as well as the first, introductory part of a folio about the realms of Lamaar. He has displayed all three items in the Scriptorium and is awaiting your visit.

November 13th 2000
Greetings, traveller, and well met.

Just a quick update: I have added The Spell Law.pdf file for download via the Spell Law Section. You can find the same file in the Scriptorium. I am currently fine-tuning the timeline, I will add it later this week.

Greetings, traveller, and well met.

This is a new section in the dnotice.de site that is devoted to the exploration of the fantasy world Lamaar.

Today, I start (or actually restart) a project that really began almost a decade ago. In those days I began to design a new fantasy world to be used in a planned, but never executed Rolemaster campaign. This world started from a simple "I have a medieval kingdom here, some savages there and the Elves over here …" to what Lamaar is today.

I cannot say that this world is not influenced by well-known works of fantasy, neither can I say that the Rift has not been inspired by the movie The Wind And The Lion. My first encounter with fantasy literature was through the novels of Robert E. Howard and the works of his literary legacy (at least with regard to the Conan Saga) L. Sprague de Camp, Lin Carter and Andrew Offut. Conan was the first hero I accompanied through his never-ending series of opponents and enemies and even today, many years later, those stories have a special attraction for me. Later I came across Tolkien and Saberhagen's Books Of Swords, and years later I met Glen Cook's Black Company.

Both Middle-Earth and the changed earth of the Empire of the East and the Books Of Swords are great havens for fantasy roleplay, but I wanted my own, and I wanted a world that had Tolkien's Elves, Saberhagen's societey and Howard's southern Hyborian countries like Stygia and Zamora.

After various tries I arrived at Lamaar. Much had changed then, concepts had been scrapped and others introduced, but still, at the secret and silent heart of the world the rhythm of Howard, Tolkien and Saberhagen beat. Now, to celebrate the release of the 3rd editionof Dungeons and Dragons, this world is going through yet another revision, and only the future knows how much of that rhythm and spirit survives and remains to betray the true sources of this world.

Right now the only section that is really finished (apart from changes in detail) is the Spell Law section. But as the current campaign unfolds, this website will grow, material will be added, secrets revealed, reflecting the events in the campaign, offering more insight into the world of Lamaar.

Enjoy,
